School Abductions: Short Term Solutions Will Result in Long Term Destruction – Atiku Says

BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – Following the latest schools abduction in Kaduna State, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that with the latest Kaduna school abduction, it is time for the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the education sector.

He equally counseled the government to as a matter of urgency, post 24 hour armed guards at every school in the affected and neighbouring states.

He stressed that no expense must be spared to keep our schools safe.

Atiku, who gave the wise counsel via his Twitter handle, that with 13.5 million children, Nigeria is already the world headquarters for out of school kids, adding that this can only make things worse.

In his words; “It behooves on us as a nation to act decisively and excise this cancer of school abductions from our polity with clinically precise policies”.

The former Vice President warned against payment of ransom at random which he stressed is a short term solution that will cause much long term destruction.

In his words; “We must, as a nation, impose law and order now, or we will bequeath lawlessness and disorder to the next generation. And may God forbid that”.

At about 9:00am on Monday, bandits abducted students and teachers from UBE Primary School in Rama, a village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
