APC Loses Over 20,000 Members To PDP IN Bauchi
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Not fewer than 20,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bauchi State have dumped the party over what they described as bad leadership and cluelessness of the party ahead of the 2023 General elections.
The former members of the APC have resolved to therefore pitched their political tents with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State.
The defectors were formally received into the PDP on Saturday by the Special Assistant, Political Affairs to the Bauchi state Governor, Alhaji Musajo Buba.
Speaking while receiving the APC defectors, Buba noted that the development was an indication of the PDP’s predominance of the political space of the state.
He also said that it showed that the defectors appreciated the good works and dividends of democracy provided in the state by the PD-led administration which led to their joining the PDP.
Buba assured the new members of a sense of belonging in the party, and charged PDP supporters and stakeholders to embrace and integrate the former APC members to the Party’s fold.
Speaking on behalf of defectors, a stakeholder of the APC, Malam Bala Mato Zungur, said that they left the APC because it woefully failed them, adding that all along, when they were in the APC, the party disappointed them with nothing to show except suffering and lack of internal democracy.
Zungur said; We came to the PDP because we appreciated what the Governor is doing in terms of infrastructure, roads, hospitals, education empowerment among others.
“The decampees you see in this place have worked and supported APC for over 8 years but, the party seems to be going astray without bearing. We have finally returned to PDP to move the state forward,” he said.
Zungur also said that in each of the 20 Local Government Areas, they have nothing less than 1000 APC members that have returned to the PDP.
He then appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed and the leadership of the PDP in the state to protect the interest of all the defectors and assured that the PDP will win the general elections in all the elective positions in the state including the presidential election.
