Abducted DPO Regains Freedom In Plateau

Freedom has come for the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Pankshin area in Plateau State, Superintendent of Police (SP) Nwapi Augustus, who was kidnapped by some unknown gunmen, according to the State Police Command.

The Command announced the successful rescue of SP Nwapi in a statement issued on Sunday in Jos, the state capital by its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo.

Reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) indicated that the gunmen had, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, abducted the DPO and ferried him away to an unknown destination.

DSP Alabo said following the officer’s kidnap at about 8.30 pm on that fateful day, the Command swung into action, in collaboration with other security agencies and hunters in the area, and the team was eventually able to free him from the kidnapper’s den.

The statement further said; ”The officer has been taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment, and will soon be reunited with his family”.

Also, the Police Spokesperson disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in the Plateau State, Mr Bartholomew Onyeka, has already deployed a tactical team to ensure perpetrators of the criminal act were arrested and brought to book immediately.
