The Nigeria Police Command in Kebbi State on Monday, August 3, 2026, confirmed the release of abducted judge of the State High Court, Justice Faruk Bunza.
The Kebbi State High Court judge was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued in Birnin Kebbi by SP Bashir Usman, Police Public Relations Officers stated that Justice Faruk Bunza regained his freedom after spending about one week in captivity.
SP Usman said that even though the abductors demanded a ransom during the period of captivity, the police command maintained its firm position against the payment of ransom to criminals.
According to Usman; “The police and other security agencies have stepped up investigation to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice”.
The Police command in Kebbi State appealed to members of the public to support the ongoing investigation by volunteering credible information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
