Following allege torture he suffered in the hands of his abductors, the traditional ruler of Aghara, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Chief David Obadofin, has reportedly lost his life in the den of his kidnappers.

The late Chief Obadofin known for being one of the major cashew farmers in the area and one lady Temidayo Elewa were abducted by gunmen on Easter Monday, April 17, 2023 at his farm residence located in Aghara in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area at about 11:00pm.

The kidnappers later made contact with the family of Chief Obadofin demanding N60m ransom else be prepared to face the consequences of their action.

While Chief Obadofin and Lady Elewa were kidnapped, a widow, Mrs. Toyin Onare, who worked on the farm as a labourer was not that lucky as she was killed by the gunmen when they invaded the farm.

It was gathered from sources close to the family of Late Chief Obadofin that he died last week Thursday in the cruel hands of his abductors 12 days after he was kidnapped.

The source further hinted that the deadly abductors having noticed that the late Chief Obadofin was getting weak, agreed to accept N2m as ransom to facilitate his release and that of another lady by name Temidayo Elewa.

It further added that before the agreed ransom fee could be delivered, the deadly kidnappers blindfolded the lady (Elewa) and took her to a different location in the forest as a way of covering up their tracks.

However, before the ransom could be paid, Chief Obadofin gave up the ghost in the thick forest while the kidnappers were still demanding for the ransom refusing to disclose that the traditional ruler was dead.

Unlike the late traditional ruler, Lady Elewa was lucky as she was later set free by the abductors and has since reunited with her family last week Saturday.

Elewa was said to have been found wandering and roaming in the bush by sewing machine operators that eventually assisted her out of the forest and was eventually picked up around Obajana settlement by her family members.

Elewa was later taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical examination with a view to get her stabilised from the trauma and agony she went through in the hands of the kidnappers.
