Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: Resign Now – Ajulo Urges Amaechi
A constitutional lawyer Dr Kayode Ajulo, on Thursday called on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to resign over the statement he made in the aftermath of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.
Ajulo particularly noted that the voluntary confessional statement by Amaechi was not only infantile and unguarded, but most unfortunate and directed to indict President Muhammadu Buhari, his colleague-in-council as well as to subvert a prescribed due process.
Ajulo, who was National Secretary of Labour Party (LP) but now a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), therefore urged the Transport Minister to tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians over the unfortunate incident.
In a press release, Ajulo noted that the statement credited to the Transportation Minister, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi on the Abuja-Kaduna Train attack was apparently skewed to cover up dereliction of duty and culpability.
In the words of Ajulo; “Such rail contracts considering our notorious security challenges ought to be all-encompassing and broad view.
“I am therefore intrigued on why the integrated security surveillance and monitoring solution were not part of the project deliverables in the said contract from the onset.
“It is equally worrisome that the train with the background of what the minister revealed would be allowed commercial operations without the requisite installation of security appliances and compliments.
“As it is, the least noble act of the minister as the Chief Adviser to the President and the Nigerian government on Transportation in the circumstance is an unreserved apology to the Nation and immediate resignation of his commission as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ajulo insists.
