Adamawa: Appeal Court Upholds Senator Binani’s Governorship Ticket
The Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Thursday set aside the ruling of a Federal High Court which nullified the nomination of Senator Aishatu Binani as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the State.
Accordingly, the appellate Court restored the Governorship candidature of Senator Binani by declaring that she was validly nominated Governorship Candidate of the APC for Adamawa state.
The Court of Appeal therefore directed the national leadership of the APC to forward the name of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the Governorship Candidate of the Party in Adamawa State.
The Court declared that the prayers of Malam Nuhu Ribadu for the conduct of a fresh party primary amount to an academic exercise hence jettisoned.
A Federal High Court sitting in Yola, the state capital, had in October, 2022, nullified the APC primary that produced Senator Binani as the party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa.
The Federal High Court declared that there would be no candidate for the APC in the state for the 2023 governorship election in Adamawa State.
