Former governor of Kano State and Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has advised Nafiu Bala Gombe against proceeding with his actions against the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and democracy in Nigeria.

Senator Kwankwaso, who gave the advice while expressing disappointment over the behaviour of Bala, who refused to honour an appointment for a meeting with the former Kano governor, pointedly said that the actions of the young politician will not in any way help him.

Kwankwaso referenced a local metaphor, saying; “Nafiu Bala must not turn himself to a lizard by the mouth of the pot”.

This was as Kwankwaso described the refusal of Nafiu Bala to honour the meeting as a “missed opportunity” for a fatherly counsel, saying that Bala kept him waiting all night for him.
He called on the Emir of Gombe and other Emirs, politicians and Sheikhs to intervene and advise the young politician against his actions that would not in any way mean well for democracy and Nigerians.

Kwankwaso, who stated these in an interview with DCL Hausa, said the young Bala should not only think of his immediate personal comfort, but the overall good of the country.

He further said; “Yesterday, right up until dawn, I was waiting for Nafiu Bala, but he didn’t come. People told me he will not come. I wasn’t happy about it.

“I told him that he shouldn’t turn into the lizard at the mouth of the pot,” he said metaphorically.

Kwankwaso said that all he wanted to do was to advise Bala like a father would to a son, adding that the Gombe-born politician is a young man born in 1990.

“Whoever sees him should advise him to remove his hand from bringing problems to the ADC. They say, he is from Gombe. I called upon the Emir of Gombe and other Emirs and politicians and Sheikhs that know him to talk to him,” he appealed.
