An FCT Magistrate Court sitting in Gwagwalada, Abuja, has directed that two love birds, Mr Mohammed Nazifi and Mrs Bilkisu Ibrahim be remanded in Suleja Correctional Centre, pending sentencing on allegation of adultery on January 29, 2025.
The two defendants were accused of committing adultery contrary to the provisions of sections 387 and 388 of the Penal Code.

The presiding Magistrate, Olatunji Oladunmoye, ordered that the defendants be remanded in the correctional facility following their plea of guilty to the one-count charge of adultery on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Mohammed Nazifi, 30, and Mrs Bilkisu Ibrahim, 25, who reside in Gui Village along the Airport Road, Abuja, however, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
Nazifi told the court that he was not aware that Bilikisu was a married woman but, admitted to their sexual relationship was mutual.
Nazifi also pleaded with the complainant, the husband of Bilkisu, Mr Ibrahim to forgive him, and for the court to show him mercy.
The second defendant, Bilkisu Ibrahim, while corroborating Nazifi’s statement, told the court that even though she had consensual intercourse with him, she did not disclose her marital status to Nazifi.
She said; “I am aware that under any custom, it is an offence to sleep with any man you are not married to. I practice Islam, I know it is an offence to sleep with another man when still married.
“I am still married to the complainant, and my youngest child is three years old. I plead with my husband to forgive me and for the court to show me mercy,” she pleaded.
The prosecutor, Dabo Yakubu earlier told the court that the complainant, Dayabe Abdullahi of Chibiri village, Kuje, Abuja, reported the matter at the Police Area Command, Gwagwalada, Abuja on January 16.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants conspired and had sexual intercourse, adding that both confessed to the crime in their statements.
