A young lady who was abducted from the Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna State, has been set free by her abductors after five months in captivity, but medical examination confirmed her being pregnant.

Mr. Reuben Buhari, a former media adviser to late Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State, who revealed this on Thursday, April 30, 2026 on his Facebook, said the victim was among four other persons kidnapped when armed men invaded a home where she was caring for her critically-ill mother.

Buhari said armed men whisked the victims into the bush, where they were held for five months under harsh conditions until ransom was eventually paid, leading to their release two days ago.

He said that following her release from the den of her captors, the woman was immediately taken to a hospital for urgent medical attention, during which doctors that conducted examination on her, confirmed she was pregnant.

He explained that the pregnancy was linked to repeated sexual assault during the lady’s captivity, adding that the lady was in a serious weak state when she arrived at the hospital.

Buhari further said that the victim seriously needs immediate stabilisation, including blood transfusion, before any further medical intervention could be considered.

He also said that lady endured severe physical hardship throughout the period of captivity, including prolonged movement without footwear, which left her feet swollen and painful.

Buhari described the lady’s experience as terrible, deeply traumatic, sad and unfortunate, stressing that most of the conditions faced by female victims in captivity of armed bandits were too distressing to be publicly detailed.
