Again, 25 Kidnapped Along Brinin Gwari-Funtua Road
BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – About 25 persons were on Thursday kidnapped by armed bandits along the now notorious Brinin Gwari and Funtua road.
Sources said the kidnappers struck between Kiryoyi and Maganda villages of Brinin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State after stopping commercial vehicles carrying passengers and ordering them into the bush.
Confirming the incident, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Birnin Gwari, Danladi Duniya said; “I am not in a position to say precisely the number of people abducted, but they are many. May be 25 or more than that. I cannot not say, but all passengers in the vehicles were abducted.
According to him, “They stopped five vehicles, one of the driver who was driving a VW Golf car managed to escape. This is what we go through on the road and we are appealing to the authorities to help us address this problem.
“People can no longer go to their farms and they cannot travel. It is too bad for people to find themselves in this type of situation where they cannot go out to look for their daily means of livelihood.”
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State police command, Aliyu Mukhtar to confirm the incident did not yield results as several calls to his telephone were not answered nor did he replied a text message sent to him
Just a few days back. about 46 passengers traveling in five vehicles along Brinin Gwari road were also kidnapped by gunmen.
