Allege Assault On Police Officer: IGP Orders Arrest Of Fela’s Son, Seun Kuti

Following what the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force described as assault on one of its personnel by Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered for his immediate arrest.

IGP Baba specifically directed the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command to effect the arrest Seun Kuti, who was captured on a trending video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

The IGP also directed speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

Seun Kuti taking to Instagram, said that he assaulted the policer officer because he wanted to kill him and his family.

The Instagram post by Seun stated; “Why I slapped police officer”, alleging that the policeman tried to kill him and his family.

According to Seun Kuti; “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.

“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.”

But in a swift reaction, the Inspector General of Police through the Force Public Relation Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi described the offence of Seun as ‘Serious assault on Police officer and therefore ordered the immediate arrest of Seun Kuti.
