The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has slammed four of its National Assembly members with suspension over alleged anti-party activities.
Those suspended included; Senator Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassa Rurum.
State Chairman of the Party, Mr Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, who announced the suspension while briefing journalists in Kano, explained that the suspended members have recently engaged in activities that are inimical to the interest of the NNPP, its beliefs, and moral principles.
Suleiman Dogurawa noted that the suspended members were given complementary tickets during the party elections, adding however, that instead of showing gratitude, they have been working against the party’s interests.
He explained that one of such incidents that took place recently that eventually led to the suspension was that of Senator Kawu Sumaila’s daughter’s wedding and the commissioning of projects at his university in Sumaila.
The Chairman expressed surprise that the invitees and attendees were mostly individuals who worked against Kawu and the NNPP in the past, stressing that curiously, no member of the party was invited.
The NNPP Kano State chapter chairman said that a committee will be set up to investigate the issue and address it once and for all, adding however, that in spite of the suspension, there is still room for dialogue and reconciliation.
Dungurawa specifically said that if the suspended federal legislators show remorse, repent and seek forgiveness, the party may consider reinstating them.
