…Adjourns suit to July 22, 2019 for hearing
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – A Senior Magistrate sitting in Zuba, Abuja on Monday granted embattled Senator Elisha Abbo bail in the sum of N5million and two sureties in like sum.
The Court presided over by Magistrate Abdullahi Ilellah ruled that the two sureties must have verifiable addresses within the Federal Capital Territory and adjourned the case to July 22, 2019 for hearing.
Senator Abbo, who was arraigned on a one-count charge of assault however pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Adamawa born Abbo was arraigned by the FCT Police Command at Zuba Magistrate Court, Abuja following a video that showed him assaulted a nursing mother at a sex toy shop. The video went viral and attracted national condemnation.
In the video, Senator Abbo is seen beating up the nursing mother who tried to prevent him and others with him from assaulting the sales girl in the shop.
The embattled senator had a t a press conference he addressed, tendered an unreserved apology to Nigerians and the lady he assaulted and asked for forgiveness.
This is just as the Senate has set up an six member ad-hoc committee chaired by Senator Sam Egqu to investigate the incident that took place in March before Senator Abbo was sworn-in as a member of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
