Following what they described as the ‘imposition of appointees in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA), members of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, July 28, 2025, staged a protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The APC protesters also demanded the immediate removal of the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the ruling Party, Chief Cornelius Ojelabi.

The protesters who trooped out in their numbers said they were protesting against the imposition of the appointees and the refusal to allow for due process and party rules to be followed in the selection of candidates.

The protesters, who said they represented the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in the State, chanted songs and carried placards with different inscriptions.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards read; “We Want Fresh Leadership”, “Let the people choose their Leaders”, “Enough of imposition”, “Ojelabi Must Go” among others.

However, security operatives were deployed to the Lagos State House of Assembly to maintain law and order during the duration of the protest.

Speaking with the protesters, Mr Kadri Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, called for peace and calm and assured that the issue, which he noted was strictly a party affair, will be addressed and resolved in the shortest time possible.
