Following what they described as total neglect and abandonment, the youths of Tilden Fulani in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, have announced their withdrawal of support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South senatorial district in the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As a demonstration of their new stand, the youths who met on Saturday, Saturday, September 14, 2024, destroyed the billboards and stand post banners of Senator Buba in the area.

They alleged that the federal legislator neglected and abandoned them immediately he won the 2023 elections which they laboured and suffered to ensure his victory at the polls.

An eye witness said the problem started when the youths on hearing that Senator Buba was coming and heading to Bauchi, blocked the major highway and demanded that he should stepdown from his car and speak to them but the senator refused to bulge and directed his security aides to clear the youths off the road to allow his convoy to pass the barricade.

However, the youths put up some resistance which led to confrontation between the and the security aides for some time before the blockage was cleared.

It was further gathered that one of the youths who sustained serious injuries in the process is presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

In the words of the eye witness; “How Senator Shehu Buba Umar treated his supporters in Tilde Fulani today is condemnable, unwelcome, and uncalled for. He ordered security operatives to clear the road for him when his supporters wanted to see him while passing by along the Bauchi Jos highway.

“Regrettably, the action resulted in the injury of one of the APC supporters, whose current condition is unknown as it was reported to be critical. As a result, we urge him to apologize to the Toro APC family for his ungodly action. This is not how supporters should be treated.

“Those youths from what I gathered, were the first set of supporters of the Senator even before the elections. They established an office and erected his billboards and posted his posters everywhere,” he explained.

Another eye witness narrated that there is a joint where his billboard and those of other politicians from his political party are placed and the boys who are mostly political thugs accosted him and insisted he speak with them.

The second witness said; “While the Security aides were doing their work to prevent him but the youths insisted and reacted angrily as they started beating the security aide while some of them moved and intervened to prevent what might have escalated. No one was harmed. This was the real situation”.

Efforts made to get official reactions from Senator Buba Umar proved abortive as his phone number was not going through neither did he respond to the WhatsApp chat and SMS text message sent to his mobile number.

Similarly, when his Chief of Staff, Hon Danladi Fitto Dass was contacted, he merely responded to greetings but, declined to make further comments when asked to react to the development just as his other aide, Maijama’a Mato failed to respond to the WhatsApp and SMS sent to his mobile number.
