Anambra Guber Poll: Soludo, Uba, Ozigbo Make INEC Final List

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Senator Andy Uba of All Progressives Congress (APC) are among notable names on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s final list of candidates for the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.

Also featuring prominently in the 18 candidates’ list published on Thursday by the electoral umpire are Mr Valentine Ozigbo, who is flying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s flag, and Senator Ifeanyi Uba as the Young Progressives Party (YPP)’s candidate at the poll.

Signed by INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, Barrister Festus Okoye, the list also has Dr Obiora Okonkwo as flagbearer of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP); Obiora Agbasimalo of the Labour Party; Dr Godwin Maduka of Accord Party’s; and Bennet Etiaba of Action Alliance (AA).

Others include Chidozie Nwankwo of African Action Congress ( AAC); Akachukwu Nwankpo of African Democratic Congress (ADC); Afam Ume-ezeoke of Action Democratic Party (ADP); Geoffrey Onyejegbu of Allied Peoples Movement (APM); and Philip Echetebu of Action Peoples Party (APP),

The list also features Okeke Chika Jerry of BOOT Party (BP); Leonard Ohajinkpo of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Afam Ezenwafor of National Rescue Movement (NRM); Nnamdi Nwawuo for Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Obinna Uzoh of Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Reacting to the published list, PDP flag bearer, Mr Ozigbo described the election as winnable for him given that his party has the brightest chance in the contest going by the vigorous campaigns he is running and the feedback being received from the field.

According to him, despite the handful of defections, “we retain the comparative advantage at the grassroots. Our team is more resolute because we know the hope of Anambra people lies on us.”

“We are going to spare nothing to ensure we get it right at the grassroots and win this election. There will be a better story to tell at the end,” Ozigbo said. – With NAN reports
