The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that its Imo State Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains its National Secretary.

The Party which stated this while reacting to a statement by a group that purportedly stated that Anyanwu has been relieved of his position as the National Secretary of the PDP, stressed that the claim was completely false.

These were contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba , stated that the National Working Committee (NWC) did not at any time relieve or contemplate to relieve Senator Samuel Anyanwu of his position as National Secretary.

The PDP national leadership therefore condemned the action of the group which it noted was obviously the handiwork of those who intend to embarrass, cause disaffection and division in the Party in their attempt to distract it, and its Imo governorship candidate, Senator Anyanwu and the people in the quest to rescue the State from the stranglehold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP NWC cautioned that no matter how strongly an individual or group feels about an issue, resorting to fabrications, lies and claiming of a non-existent decision by the NWC is highly condemnable.

The Party urged Nigerians, particularly its teeming members and supporters in Imo State to disregard the false claims, saying that Senator Anyanwu remains the National Secretary and Candidate of the Party in the November 11, 2023 Governorship election in Imo State.

The NWC also charged the PDP in Imo State to remain united, focused, at alert and continue to resist the antics of suppressive forces which are bent at distracting the Party in the march to victory on November 11, 2023.
