APC Chieftain Accuses Tinubu Of Backing Soludo’s 2nd Term Bid To Block Obi
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Valentine Ozigbo, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is discreetly supporting the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s second term bid in order to whittle down the influence of Mr Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 elections.
This is as he accused Governor Soludo of belonging to APGA in the afternoon and APC in the night, thereby creating confusion.
Ozugbo, who vied for the governorship ticket of the APC in Anambra State for the 2025 election, pointedly said that President Tinubu’s secret romance with Soludo is mainly targeted at whittling down the towering popularity and influence of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi in Anambra State.
He explained that there is in no love lost between Peter Obi and Suludo, saying that the Anambra governor worked so hard to ensure the 2023 presidential candidate of the LP lost the election in Anambra State.
Ozugbo, who stated these when he featured on Arise Television programme, said the supporters of President Tinubu are drumming support for Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election as a strategy to counter Peter Obi’s influence in the state.
In the words of Ozugbo; “There is an allegation that the President wants Soludo to come back because of Obi. There is some understanding that Soludo will return. However, even if that is correct, that is an inferior proposition.
“It suggests that Governor Soludo may have presented himself as a bulwark against the Labour Party. Soludo must have gone to whoever to say, like they are saying now, that APC is weak, his problem is Labour, and so support me in APGA, so that I will come back because you don’t want Labour to win in Anambra State,” he explained.
Ozigbo said that his defection to the APC has transformed the party’s electoral prospects. APC was weak and Labour was strong. Who is in Labour now?
According to him; “My leaving Labour to join APC has made the party strong today, and this is why I’m fighting this battle.
“I don’t want this type of deal where Soludo is APGA in the afternoon and APC in the night, and so you create a confusion. You are not strengthening the party and you are not helping anybody,” he stressed.
