Governor Lalong of Plateau State

BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – The Plateau State Elders Advisory Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended Governor Simon Lalong “for taking immediate steps which in no small measure brought the situation of last week in parts of Plateau under control”, just as it condemned the
“unfortunate and wicked acts of militia herdsmen in some communities in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos South, Mangu, Bokkos, and Bassa”.
Noting that as APC elders they are bearing a “heavy heart”, the body commiserated with the affected families, and extended its commendation to the security agencies and religious organisations and community leaders for their complementary roles that helped to bring the situation under control.
“We also support Governor Simon Lalong’s call for an emergency special intervention fund to help communities sacked by the militia herdsmen go back to their land of inheritance and return to their normal lives”, the statement said.
Signed by the chairman of the APC Elders’ Advisory council, Capt. Joseph M. Din (rtd), the statement also declared that “we strongly believe that the time has come for Plateau state to be included in the North East Reconstruction Fund which did not receive the blessing of the National Assembly”.
“When this is done”, the statement stressed further, “the state will be able to support the people in rebuilding communities ravaged by these incessant attacks”.
The APC Elders also tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to “review the security architecture in the state such that those who justified the recent attacks on innocent citizens are picked up and made to face the full wrath of the law”.
