The meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives congress (APC) and governors elected on its platform has fixed April 29, 2017 for its long awaited non-elective convention.
This is just as the Thursday meeting which was presided by the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has been away longer than was originally envisaged.
It however commended President Buhari for following the rule of law by allowing the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to assume proper leadership and by so doing saved the country the kind of trauma that was experienced in the past.
The APC leadership x-rayed and reviewed the party’s poor financial position and agreed that a new funding mechanism should be devised based on a planned continuous membership registration exercise across the country insisting that it is the only sustainable way to fund the party.
A statement issued at the end of the meeting by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi said the meeting also discussed the situations in some of the state chapters of the Party during which it was agreed that an effective conflict resolution mechanism be put in place to stem the tide of internal dissension and resolve existing issues.
Other resolution adopted at the meeting include the resolve to launch a project to showcase the accomplishments of APC governors in all the 24 states controlled by the Party as part of its midterm activities.
The meeting commended the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the leadership of the National Assembly, and all the APC governors for standing strong and ensuring that government continues to run smoothly, while praying to the Almighty God to bring President Buhari back safe and sound.
