BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Initiative for Good Governance, has warned the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk to as a matter of importance, steer clear of the politics of Bauchi State and concentrate on her ministerial responsibilities.
The APC Initiative for Good Governance which gave the warning in a statement by Nasiru Cigari, said that Sadiya, who is married to the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bauchi State, Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar (retd.) is unnecessarily interfering and dabbling into political issues in the state which do not concern her in whatsoever.
The group advised her to just fold her arms and watch political issues from afar as against poking her nose into every matter.
The statement further stated; “It is no longer news that the ticket of APC House of Representatives for Bauchi Federal constituency is vacant, following the withdrawal of its standard bearer, Hon Shehu Aliyu Musa, who was nominated as the running mate to the State APC gubernatorial candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.) from Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi North Senatorial zone.
“This development necessitated the party to call for a new nomination to fill the vacant position. However, recent moves and scheming to impose the current member by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs who also doubles as wife of the Governorship candidate stands condemned by all voices of reason.
“To set the records straight, the Minister has no stake in the politics of Bauchi state and Bauchi LGA by extension. If she has any moral obligations to do so, then that should be in Shira/Giade Federal Constituency, the adopted constituency of her husband.
“Conversely, her influence should be limited to the domain of her Ministry and her husband. Hence, should allow the bona fide APC faithful from Bauchi Federal Constituency to choose who they want to be their ticket holder.
“It will be an utter disregard to proponents of democratic practices for the Minister who is a Zamfara indigene to attempt to poke nose in an affair that doesn’t concern her.
“With this, we are advising her to put a stop to any attempt to impose any candidate on the constituents of Bauchi Federal Constituency and concentrate on taking care of her husband and discharging her responsibilities as a Federal cabinet Minister.
“The fact remains, that Sadiya has abandoned her responsibilities of spearheading the humanitarian and disaster crises bedeviling our country while also diverting social programs meant for the benefit of the whole country to Bauchi state all in the name of influencing her husband’s gubernatorial ambitions.
“Consequently, we will not relent on following all steps within the ambiance of the law to resist her desperate agenda,” the group warned.
