BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogun State chapter, has described the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital as a reaffirmation of his divine mandate obtained during the governorship elections on March 9, 2019.
The Appeal Court had on Monday, November 11, dismissed the appeal filed against Dapo Abiodun and APC by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its candidate, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade for lacking in merit.
The ruling effectively upheld the victory verdict earlier given by the election petition tribunal in Abeokuta some weeks ago.
Speaking at the party Secretariat located along Abiola Way, Abeokuta, the Ogun State, capital shortly after the Appeal Court judgment, the Publicity Secretary of APC Caretaker Committee, Tunde Oladunjoye, said the verdict truly reflects the overwhelming wishes of Ogun People as freely expressed in the March 9 gubernatorial poll.
He said with the judgment, the time has come for all well-meaning individuals, groups, politicians and non-politicians, genuinely desirous of the peace and progress of the Gateway state to support the governor in the onerous task of repositioning the state for its next level’s growth and development.
The Party image maker stated that: “The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State, wishes to give glory to Almighty God for the reaffirmation of the divine mandate given to our party and governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, with the dismissal of the appeal filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
“We see the judgement of the Appeal Court as a true reflection of the overwhelming wishes of Ogun People, freely expressed in the March 9, 2019 governorship election.
“The party believes that the latest judgement from the Appeal Court will put an end, the side distractions of this budding political association touting unmerited mandate.”
According to Oladunjoye, “We wish to express our profound appreciation to the people of Ogun State, not only for the given mandate, but also for the support they have continue to give to the Dapo Abiodun-led Administration. Same goes for the mass media. This unconditional support, we assure, will not be taken for granted.
“In line with the campaign promise of His Excellency the Governor, the Administration has been running and will continue to run an inclusive government.”
Expressing the Party’s happiness and thankfulness to God for the Appeal Court ruling, Oladunjoye said as a firm believer in politics without bitterness, Governor Abiodun is ever-ready to work with Ogun people, across political divide to move the State forward.
