BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Imo State on Friday hit hard at Governor Rochas Okorocha describing him as “politically irrelevant and bankrupt” politician that only thrives on corruption.
The Imo APC leaders after a stakeholders meeting on Friday declared that they have rendered Governor Okorocha politically irrelevant in their determination to rescue the party from imminent collapse in the state.
This was just as political allies took to the streets to jubilate for paralysing Governor Okorocha in the fight to take control of the ruling APC.
The leaders said that there have been wide jubilation in Imo following their successful rescue of the party from Okorocha, stressing that they have made it impossible for the embattled governor to get help from anywhere.
They further said that they have to make Okorocha become politically irrelevant in their determination to rescue the APC in Imo State from imminent collapse.
One of the leaders of the ruling APC in Imo State, Dr Theo Ekechi, who briefed journalists after a close-door meeting with the party national leadership in Abuja, said the stakeholders have overwhelming evidences against Okorocha, adding that the development has made it impossible for the governor to get attention from any quarter in the state and in the South-East region.
Ekechi further said; “He cannot run to any political figure in the state because none is with him, he cannot approach any clergyman in the state. In his desperation, he ran to Sokoto, Daura and even to the Vice President, but help has refused to come.”
He also said that Rochas’s inaction was responsible for the problems facing the party in the state and the South-East in general.
In a petition submitted to the party’s national leadership, the stakeholders narrated what they described as Okorocha’s sins and appealed for the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
Ekechi said the state is being mismanaged under Governor Okorocha, who he accused of running the state like a personal estate.
He called on the party’s national chairman to bring to the notice of President Muhammadu Buhari the crisis in Imo before it completely gets out of hand saying that the governor is harassing and intimidating perceived political opponents in the state.
