APC Mourns As Atiku Condoles Party Over Jalingo Tragedy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday expressed deep pains over the death of some party supporters at its Next Level campaign rally in Taraba State for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this in a statement regretting the tragic incident caused by a stampede at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the Taraba capital.

“Our party is deeply pained by this painful loss. We pray for the dearly departed and express our deep condolences to their family members, loved ones and the good people of Taraba,” Issa-Onilu said.

He also prayed for the speedy and full recovery of the party’s supporters, who sustained injuries during the incident, which he said was caused by overcrowding.

The APC spokesman added that the party would ensure that improved crowd control measures were put in place to as much as possible prevent a re-occurrence of such a sad incident.

Atiku condoles party 

In his condolence message, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Atiku Abubakar sympathized with the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at the APC rally Jalingo

According to his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, the PDP flag-bearer in expressing sadness over the loss of lives, said; “All Nigerian lives matter whether they are of the APC, PDP or any other party.”

The statement said Atiku was speaking from Katsina where the PDP was holding its presidential rally.

Atiku also expressed his deepest condolences to the APC, its presidential candidate as well as the government and people of Taraba State over the tragedy.

He prayed for strength and comfort for the affected families and for God to grant the deceased eternal rest.  –  NAN
