The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports alleging that aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara have been disqualified from the ongoing screening process.
A statement issued on Sunday, by Mr. Tanko Yamowa, Secretary of the APC Screening Committee for Rivers State, said that no official screening results had been released by the Party.
Yamowa therefore described as false and unauthorized a purported list of cleared and uncleared aspirants currently circulating on social media and other media platforms.
The Secretary of the Screening Committee for Rivers State, insisted that no official screening results had been released by the party.
He further said that the screening exercise conducted by the committee headed by Mauriana Ajibola, was concluded less than 24 hours earlier ago, thus made it impossible for any authentic list to have been published.
The statement stated; “The attention of the party leadership has been drawn to the circulation of a purported list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly currently making rounds across various media platforms.
“We wish to categorically state that the said publication is false, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the appropriate party authorities,” it stressed.
The APC therefore urged aspirants, supporters, and members of the public to disregard the report, saying that it is the handiwork of “mischief makers” seeking to create confusion and tension within the party.
The APC assured its members that it remains committed to transparency, fairness, and due process throughout the screening exercise, stressing that official results would be communicated through approved party channels at the appropriate time.
The clarification by the party screening committee followed some reports alleging that some aspirants loyal to Governor Fubara were disqualified while those align to Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT were cleared to contest the party primary.
