APC Sales Of Nomination Forms: Adamu-led NWC Starting On A Shaky Ground
…Postpones date of commencement for sales of forms,
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – In spite of the high cost of its Expression of Interest and nomination forms, the new national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, may have started on a shaky and wrong note ahead of the 2023 general elections.
This is evidenced in the ability of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party to keep to the resolution of the National Executive Council (NEC), of the Party which approved for the sale of nomination and Expression of Interest forms should commence on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Last Wednesday’s (April 23) meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling Party approved that the sales of Expression of Interest and nomination forms should commence on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Instead, the National Working Committee (NWC), has commenced what is considered a massive reorganisation of the structures of its national secretariat by directing its six Directors to proceed on compulsory leave which is the style usually adopted by the Party in relieving its staff of their appointments.
The move is also seen as a deliberate ploy by the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led NWC to bring in staffers that would be loyal to the new administration.
The reorganization of the secretariat of the party was captured in a letter by its National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisoreletter directing the departmental Directors to proceed on leave.
The letter which duly signed by Omisore, dated April 21, 2022, equally directed the six directors to hand over their departments to the most senior person.
It was gathered that rather than face the challenges of logistics confronting the NWC with regards to the printing of the forms which are yet to be delivered to the Party’s national Secretariat by the contractor handling the printing of the forms, the new leadership is keen on diverting attention.
This was as it gathered that the new Party leadership is yet to reach an acceptable agreement and modus operandi on the guidelines for the sales of forms and the primaries expected to be conducted between May 18 and May 30 and possibly June 1, 2022 for the presidential primary.
For now, no new date has been fixed for the sale of forms which was earlier slated Saturday as the APC NWC is yet to announce a new date.
However, a source close to the office of the new National Chairman, told Forefront News that the postponement of the sales of forms became necessary owing to the obvious inability of the contractor to deliver the forms on schedule.
According to the source, who pleaded anonymity; “The contractor (printer) is yet to deliver the forms. Pressure is being mounted on the contractor to deliver. As soon as he delivers, we shall commence sales this week. We are hoping that he will deliver unfailingly today (Sunday) of latest by Monday morning.
Forefront News equally gathered that the reorganisation taking place at the Party’s National Secretariat is in line with the recommendations of the Transition Committee set up by the new leadership of the Party.
