APC Spokesman Launches Book ‘On A Platter of Gold: How Jonathan Won And Lost Nigeria’
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Former Minister of Youths and Sports Development under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi will today, Thursday November 30, 2017 publicly present his book ‘On A Platter Of Gold: How Jonathan Won And Lost Nigeria’.
The book launch which is expected to attract frontline political actors, journalists, academia and a cross-section of Nigerians and the international community is billed to hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’ Adua Centre in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja
A statement by his Special Adviser, Julius Ogunro said the Chief Host and Host of the book launch are the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed respectively while the Chairman of the occasion is the Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima with the Emir of Ilorin, dr Ibrahim Gambari as the father of the day.
Other dignitaries include the Chief Presenter, who is the CEO and publisher of Ovation International, Chief Dele Momodu while the book reviewers are Prof. Adigun Agbaje and Mr. Azubuike Ishiekwene.
The Special Adviser said the book will go on sale nationwide after the launch.
According to Bolaji Abdullahi, the book is an exclusive account of the “making and the unmaking” of Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, adding that the book gives revelations of the intrigues that surrounded the 2015 presidential election and its aftermath.
He further said; “On a Platter of Gold is part history, part political thriller, which answers many of the often-asked questions about Jonathan’s incredible rise to the highest political office in the land and his unprecedented electoral defeat in 2015,” Bolaji Abdullahi stated.
The book is introduced as follows: “Was Goodluck Jonathan weak and clueless, as his traducers have claimed? Or – as his supporters have alleged – was he just a victim of vicious conspiracies by an entitled cabal that would stop at nothing to bring down this ‘intruder’ to power?
”From an unknown university teacher, Goodluck Jonathan rose to become President of Africa’s largest democracy, in less than a decade -most astonishingly, without winning a single vote in his name. In contesting the 2011 presidential election, he declared that growing up as the son of a fisherman in the creeks of Nigeria’s Niger Delta, he had no shoes. This message resonated with millions of Nigerians. “If I can make it, then you can as well,” he had declared. He went on to win with the highest majority vote ever recorded in the nation’s history.”
Bolaji Abdullahi, a former columnist and editor with Thisday Newspaper, is currently the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
