APC: Why I Resigned As National Legal Adviser – El-Marzuq
The former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Ahmed El-Marzuq has said that he had no choice than to resign his party position as a result of the emergence of the former governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje as national chairman of the party.
El-Marzuq said that he found it pertinent to resign his position within the party in order to allow for a smooth reconfiguration of the party’s national leadership.
In a statement by AbdulHalim Adamu, his Special Adviser, El-Marzuq pointedly said that his resignation was as a result of the emergence of Ganduje and former Senate spokesman, Senator Ajibola Basiru as National Chairman and National Secretary respectively of the APC.
He said; “In light of the recent developments within our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), with the emergence of His Excellency, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Senator Ajibola Basiru as National Chairman and National Secretary and the reconfiguration of party offices for national cohesion and adequate regional representation, I resigned my position as the National Legal Adviser of our Party.”
El-Marzuq, who is a known to be a close ally of former National Chairman of the Party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, thanked President Bola Tinubu and other party officials for the opportunity to serve.
The resignation of El-Marzuq as National Legal Adviser brought to four the number of national officers of the Party that have so far resigned from office.
They include the former National Chairman of the Party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and former National Vice chairman, North-west zone, Mr. Salihu Moh Lukman, all of whom tendered their letters of resignation in July, 2023.
