APC Yobe North Senatorial Seat: Court Grants Machina’s Request For Substituted Service On Lawan
A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State on Thursday, granted Hon. Bashir Sheriff Machina an application for an order of substituted Court service and processes on the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan.
Machina, who is the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), senatorial primary election for Yobe North, had approached the Court presided over by Justice Fadimatu Mohammed for an order of substituted service on Lawan.
The application for the substituted service was granted after one of the lead Counsels to the applicant, Nureini Jimoh, SAN, moved the application stating that since the case was filed in Court on June 22, 2022, the bailiffs have found it difficult to serve the writ of sermon on Lawan, who is the second defendant in the case.
Machina had in a suit prayed the Court to declare him as the authentic senatorial candidate of APC for Yobe North and an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise him as such.
The case was adjourned by the trial judge to August 15, 2022 to ensure that parties are properly served.
