APC Youths Forum Backs Almakura For National Chairman

  • Hails CECPC on zoning position to North-Central

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – A political pressure group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), APC Youths Progressive Forum (APYF), Borno State chapter has lauded the dynamic leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni-led National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) for zoning the position of National Chairman to the North Central region.

The Forum has also thrown its weight behind former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura to emerge the new National Chairman of the ruling party, maintaining that he remains the only viable option to remodel and take the APC back to winning ways once again

Chairman of the Forum, Ukkasha Hamza Rahama said; “We are glad that in all the States and the party Stakeholders consulted so far, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura remains the only viable option to remodel and take the ruling APC back to the winning ways again”

According to the statement made available to journalists in Bauchi, Rahama noted that “The National Convention will be a great opportunity for us to strengthen our bones and institutionalize internal democracy processes as a panacea for rebuilding the party towards 2023 national elections.”

He said; “Senator Umar Tanko Almakura being one of the nation’s respected nationalists alive, is coming at the time the ruling party needs him most because of his good track records in governance as a former Governor and now Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Nigerians and the APC would witness tremendous and dynamic positive change and accelerated political development if he emerges the new National Chairman.”

Describing Senator Almakura as a ‘bonafide Democrat’, Rahama stressed that “His wealth of experience in Politics and Governance in Nigeria earned him the Status of a Political General as many called him in his State of Nasarawa and the nation as a whole”.

He said; “Life is the best teacher and it is no doubt that Almakura’s journey to greatness has thought him countless lessons that pages cannot contain. He was the Youth leader of NPN, a former Secretary of NRC, a founding member of APC from the merger level through CPC as a serving Governor of Nassarawa State.

“His courageous stand to propagate the needs to support the emergence of the new era of leadership in Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari is the reason why currently he remains the only option to revive the ruling APC after our National Convention.”

The Forum Chairman further said; “The wisdom behind Senator Almakura’s aspiration is to ensure cohesion and unity of the party as well as safeguarding the tenets and the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari administration so also ensuring the values of the party are kept alive.”

He said Senator Almakura being part of the merger as the only surviving Governor from the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) means that he knows the history, the problems, and the solutions that will further sustain the gains and secure the future of the ruling All Progressive Congress ahead of the nation General elections in 2023.

“APC under his watch will be committed to building harmony, peace and unity of Nigeria been a detribalized Politician that gave it all Democracy to strive. As members of the APC Youths Progressive Forum, Borno State Chapter, We are making this Declaration today before the Press knowing fully that Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura has all it takes to revive the ruling APC if elected National Chairman”, the APYF chairman said.

“We shall by this note, want to appeal to the Party delegates and the critical Stakeholders to ensure that our party gets the best on February 26th and the best is the Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura.

“It has been said that only God is perfect but he is an Excellent Politician to redeem the image of the ruling party Insha’Allah. We cannot be as mighty as we are today without grievances and intricacies though they are the bridges that measure our success and determine our weaknesses.”

On the milestones recorded by the CECPC, the Forum chairman said; “It is in the light of the above that we congratulate our party on the successful conduct of congresses from the ward, local government, and States level.

He said; “Nigerians, most especially the members of our great party are anticipating high with their ears widely opened not for the convention date and venue but who may emerge after remaining a subject of great concerns.”
