BY SALISU IBRAHIM, KANO – The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has affirmed the re-election of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The five-man panel of Appeal Court Judges led by Justice Tijjani Abubakar on Friday unanimously ruled that, the appeal filled by Abba Kabiru Yusuf and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lacks merit.
In dismissing the appeal in its entirety, the Appeal Court affirmed that Governor Ganduje was duly elected by the majority of voters cast in the March 9 and March 22 Kano gubernatorial and supplementary elections.
However, reacting to the judgment, counsel to the appellants, Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf and the PDP, Bashir Yusuf Muhammad stated that they will be approaching the Supreme Court to appeal the judgment.
He noted that reasons for the decisions reached by the Appeal Court in its judgment have not been given.
“We will get the full judgment to know the basis of the judgement before proceeding to the Supreme Court”, he said.
