BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – As part of efforts aimed at confidence building in members of the public against the act of terrorism in the North-east, the first semi-final match of the Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai Football tournament took place on Saturday at Federal Government Girls College, Monguno, Borno State.
The semi-final match, which attracted thousands of spectators from Monguno and surrounding villages, was between Riverside Football Club of Damasak and Ngazai Football Club of Ngazai.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Public Relations, 8 Task Force Division, Colonel Timothy Antigha said the football tournament which kicked off on September 16, 2017 is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to engage the youths of Northern Borno and to also assist in post conflict stabilization and recovery of the region.
