BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The remains of Late Major General Muhammed Alkali (rtd), who was declared missing on September 3, 2018 have been found in an abandoned well in Guchwet, Shen in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Leader of the Search and Rescue Operation, Umar Mohammed announced this on Wednesday in Jos while briefing journalists on the discovery.
Mohammed said plans were being put in place to give the Late General, who was murdered on his way to Bauchi from Jos, a befitting burial.
The General Officer Commanding, 3 division, Rukuba barracks, General B. A. Akinruluyo, had last week Friday, said soldiers located a grave where Alkali was initially buried.
Akinruluyo also said that some of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Late General Alkali confessed to the crime and revealed that the body of the deceased was buried in a place known as “No Man’s Land” in Dura-Du community in Plateau.
According to him; “Those behind the dastardly act later exhumed the corpse and took it to an unknown place.”
Late General Alkali was Chief of Administration at the Nigerian Army headquarters until his retirement having put in 35years in service.
