Ashiru Wins PDP Governorship Primary In Kaduna State
BY AMOS TAUNA, KAUNA – After an all-night rigorous accreditation and voting exercise by delegates, Isa Ashiru on Monday morning emerged the the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kaduna State for the 2019 general elections.
Isa Ashiru recorded a total of 1,330 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, who recorded 564 votes just as Alhaji Mohammed Sani Sidi closely followed with 560 votes.
Ashiru gave Hunkiyi, who came second a margin of 766 on the list of 10 other contenders which a total of 2, 654 delegates from the 23 local government areas participated in the PDP governorship primaries in the state.
Below are details of the votes and the stands of the aspirants:
(1) Ja’afaru Sa’ad. – withdrew
(2) Shuaibu Yakubu Miqat – 16 votes
(3) Isa Ashiru – 1330 votes
(4) Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi – 564 votes
(5) Muktar Ramalan Yero – 36 votes
