A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday awarded a N50 million fine as liability against Senator Elisha Abbo for assaulting a female at an adult shop in Abuja.
In his ruling in the suit titled; “Osimibibra Warmate v Senator Elisha Abbo” with reference number REF: Suit No. FHC: CV/2393/19, the trial judge ordered Senator Abbo to pay N50 million to Osimibibra Warmate, the woman he assaulted which was captured on close camera television in May 11, 2019.
The ruling came weeks after a Magistrate Court sitting in Zuba, in the FCT acquitted Senator Abbo representing Adamawa-North in the Senate in a case of assault instituted against him by the Nigeria police.
Magistrate Abdullahi Ilelah, who upheld a no-case submission filed by Abbo, said the police failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the lawmaker assaulted Warmate.
Warmate and a police officer Mary Daniel, who investigated the matter, had testified against Abbo.
