Atiku Campaign: Wike Revokes C-of-O Of Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt

For hosting a meeting by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) issued to the owners of Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt.

On Sunday, 25th December 2022, being Christmas Day and a public holiday, the Rivers State government published a notice revoking the Certificate of Occupancy of Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt allegedly as a result of failure to pay ground rents.

But in a swift reaction, a former Special Adviser to Wike on Media and now supporter of the Atiku/Okowa ticket, Mr Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said on Tuesday that Governor Wike withdrew the C-of-O of Le Meridien Hotel because a meeting by PDP presidential candidate’s associates took place at the hotel.

Inko-Tariah said that it is irrationally inexplicable for Governor Wike to revoke the C-of-O of the hotel, which is one of the leading hotels in Port Harcourt as there was no crisis whatsoever apart from the fact that politicians met there.

He further said; “Nothing untoward took place. So, on what ground is he (Wike) revoking the C of O? It is simply because these are people loyal to Atiku and he wants to frustrate the campaign of Atiku/Okowa”.

Inko-Tariah also said; “You know I had warned earlier that these so-called Executive Orders are going to be prescriptions for anarchy because there is a limit to which anyone can take such madness. You push a man to the wall it bounces back.

“Now, some people went and destroyed Magnus Abe’s property (SDP Campaign Office) and of course, there was a retaliation, they also went and destroyed PDP property. What do you expect?”
