BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Northern Youth Consultative Initiative (NYCI) has urged Governor, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to as a matter of urgency fish out those who carried out attack on Hausa community in Shasha area of Ibadan on Saturday during which lives were lost and properties destroyed.

Convener of NYCI, Amb. Bappare Mohammed, who made the call, noted that the attack on innocent Hausa people at Shasha community of Oyo state stand condemned by all men of good conscience and conviction.

Mohammed also said that on several fora, the leadership of NYCI has called for sincere unity of Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation.

According to him; “But such calls have conspicuously been hindered from thriving by merchants of violence that are hell bent on fanning the embers of crisis for their selfish gains”.

The convener of the NYCI, who stated these while speaking with journalists on Sunday, said that attacks of such magnitude will definitely cause reprisal crisis which may result in bloodbaths across the country if left unchecked.

He said; “We therefore urge Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state and other Governors bedeviled with serious security threats to do everything possible by prosecuting culprits and sponsors of these unfortunate incidents.

“The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable. It is the constitutional rights of every Nigerian to live in any state within the country because no one has the constitutional rights to send anybody out from any state.

“Finally, we implore Northern youths to remain calm and law abiding by not taking laws into our hands. Nigeria is ours, we have no any other place on earth more than our dear country,” Mohammed he pleaded.
