Awolowo Gets New Tenure As NEPC’s Boss

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Mr Olusegun Awolowo as the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).

According to Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Awolowo’s re-appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha.

Mr Adesina said in a statement on Wednesday that the new appointment is to last for another term of four years.

Son of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Segun Awolowo, who is a lawyer, was first appointed as the NEPC’s boss in 2013 by the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration’

His tenure as Executive Director ended on November 28, 2017 but having been promised a second term in office by top officials at the Presidency, Awolowo was reportedly still calling the shots, a development that put him on collision course with Sidi-Aliyu Abdullahi as the acting Executive Director
