Ayade Assures C-River NUJ Of Robust Partnership

BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – Governor Ben Ayade has promised to support the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) development initiatives aimed at promoting professional media practice in Cross River State.

He said as a development partner, the NUJ would enjoy the government support for proving itself a dependable ally in the task of moving the state forward and driving its socio-economic growth and development agenda

According to him, actions by the Union’s leadership so far further confirms that the State government can rely on its members as partners in delivering democracy dividends to Cross Riverians.

Governor Ayade, who spoke at his country-home in Obudu Local Government Area, stated that by tracking him to his village, the NUJ has associated with sense of purpose and commitment in ensuring Cross River State continues on the path of positive economic growth and development, particularly at the grassroots’ level.

He charged members of the union to always see themselves as partners-in-progress, instead of being antagonistic and delivering destructive criticisms at every government policy and programme.

The Governor, who was presented with an award of excellence for proactive development initiatives for humanity by the State NUJ Council, pledged to prioritize the activities of the Union throughout the remaining part of his tenure as the Governor.

In his remarks, the NUJ, Cross River State Council Chairman, Comrade Nsa Gill, who presented the award to Governor Ayade, said it was meant to further spur up his adopted development strategies, especially his human development and welfare packages across all strata of the citizenry.

While noting that the Governor’s approach of providing food on the table across board was unique and novel in human capital development, Comrade Gill expressed the Union’s readiness to work and cooperate with the government in all its laudable development programmes for the State.
