Bandits Abduct Zamfara LG Chairman From His House, Kill Four Security Personnel

Suspected deadly armed bandits have abducted Mr Nura Umar Bungudu, who is the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The bandits, it was gathered stormed Bungudu town, about 20 kilometres from Gusau, the State capital in the early hours of Friday and headed straight to the residence of the LG chairman.

                                                             

It was further gathered that in arrival at the home of the chairman of the LG Council, the security personnel guarding the residence were overpowered by the bandits who killed two police officers and two vigilantes before taking the Council’s chairman, Umar, his wife and children away.

However, security operatives who later responded to the incident, gave the bandits a hot chase which led to the rescue of five of the abducted children, but without securing the chairman and some members of his family that are presently in the captivity of the bandits.

As at the time of this report, the Nigeria police, Zamfara State Command had yet to issue a statement on the incident.
