Former Commander of Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG), Brigadier General Lawal Bature Mohammed (rtd), who survived bandits’ attack last year, is dead.
The late Brigadier General, popularly known as Dan Gusau, sustained gunshot wounds during an ambush by bandits last year and was later flown to Egypt for medical attention.
His funeral prayer took place on Thursday evening at the Sabon Gari area of Gusau, the state capital, and he was buried according to Islamic rites.
Recalled that the State government had appointed former AIG Muhammad Shehu Daligent (rtd) as the new CPG commander to replace General Bature who was then recuperating .
Meanwhile, a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said Governor Dauda Lawal, aside from decorating 20 CPG operatives who performed exceptionally well in discharging their duties, also promised full support for the families and relations of the fallen CPG heroes.
