Bandits Attack Kaduna Mosque, Kill Two Worshippers
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Less than 48 hours after attacking and abducting about 287 students of Government Secondary School (GSS), Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the bandits have struck again killing at least two worshippers during Friday prayers.
Reports said the unfortunate incident occurred at Anguwar Makera under Kwasakwasa Community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to one of the community leaders, Hudu Kwasakwasa, the attack took place at about 2 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 with the bandits opening fire indiscriminately on the worshipers.
He stated thus; “The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday)”, adding; “The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery”.
Kwasakwasa explained that the people were in the second raka’at of the salat when the bandits struck, forcing the worshippers to abandon the prayers and run for their lives.
Offering further information on the problematic security situation in the area, he disclosed that a few days ago, the some criminal gangs abducted about nine persons at a community called Angwar Kanawa under Kwasakwasa area.
The Community Leaders, while calling for help from relevant authorities, especially the security agencies, said it was quite regrettable that the bandits are currently having free reign across the affected communities.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government as well as the Police High Command are yet to issue official statements on the mosque attack.
This is as reporters kept an eye on the Police Public Relations Office (PRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, for a possible update on the deadly attack.
