Suspected bandits in the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, stormed Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, attacked the Beli village community and in the process killed one person and abducted the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
It was gathered that the attackers on arrival at the community at about 1 a.m., started shooting sporadically before heading to the residence of the APC chairman, Alhaji Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya and forced their way into the house, brought him out and took him away.
A resident of the area who is familiar with the incident, the bandits also shot a young man while leaving the community.
He said; “They came in, firing sporadically, and went straight to the chairman’s house. They broke down the door, brought him out and took him away.
“On their way, they shot a young man of about 25 years old, who died on the spot instantly. Some other residents sustain injuries during the attack.
The abducted APC chairman, Yahaya is believed to be a close associate of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon Jibril Ismail Falgore, who hails from the same Rogo Local Government Area.
Following the development, several residents of the community took to Facebook to raise the alarm over the unfortunate incident and appealed to the government and security agencies to intervene.
The deadly attack is the third reported incident within three days involving suspected bandits in communities in the area.
On Sunday, August 31, 2026, suspected bandits reportedly invaded Chiromawa in Garin Malam Local Government Area, during which three persons were allegedly killed and an elderly man abducted.
The abducted man was later reported to have managed to escape from his captors.
The attackers also reportedly struck on Monday night in neighbouring Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, during which two people were allegedly killed.
Security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the attacks as at the time of this report or provide details on the whereabouts of the abducted APC chairman.
