BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – Ahead of 2023 political calculations in Bauchi State, former Governor Mohammed Abubakar and former Speaker of the House of Repsentatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara have put their political differences aside to fight a common opponent, Governor Bala Mohammed.

Findings indicate that a mending of the political fence mending to ensure that the present Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration in the state which the Dogara-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) helped to installed, does not get re-elected in 2023 having failed to deliver as promised.
One of the political allies of Dogara, Mallam Aminu Tukur told a group of journalists that; “The differences between us are gradually being resolved. Our unity will definitely see the end of this PDP-led administration which we contributed majorly to get on board only to be schemed out of affairs of things”.
While Narrating how the truce was brokered, Tukur said; “having met themselves in Abuja and understood the need to be united, the former Governor called me and we exchanged pleasantries after which he told me that we should forget about the past and work together again for the good of the state”.
Tukur said the present PDP-led administration in the State reneged from all the agreements reached ahead of the 2019 general elections.
According to him; “Since, we are no longer needed in the party, we have to retrace our steps back to where we came from”.

Tukur, who was a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly expressed optimism that come 2023 general election, the APC will regain control of the state considering the fact that the PDP has failed the people.
On the internal crisis within the APC in Bauchi State, Tukur said; “It is nothing serious here in Bauchi State. We don’t have two Secretariats. We don’t have two factional Chairmen in the state and none of the members of the State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the APC has defected. So, it is a minor issue that will soon be politically resolved”.
Tukur, who also a former Chairman of a Local Government Council, said that the APC is still the party to beat in the state and assured that very soon, the party will marshal a comprehensive road map to the 2023 general elections with a positive turnaround in sight.
On the recently conducted Local Government Councils election that took place in the State, Tukur simply described it as a “charade, a rape on democracy and an insult to good governance”.
He continued; “Even before the election, I told most of the candidates not to waste their hard earned resources on the election because nothing good was going to come out of it. Now, I have been justified and I have advised them not to go to the Tribunal because they will not get justice there. Let them just go back and prepare for 2023″.
