Bauchi: Gov. Mohammed Constitutes Interim Mgt. For Wikki Tourists FC

As part of his zeal to reposition the fortunes of Wikki Tourist Football Club of Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed has constituted a new Management Committee to pilot the affairs of the club.

The State government noted that Wikki Tourist Football Club has a rich history and legacy that has contributed to the state’s sports culture for years, adding that with the backing of the state government and the newly appointed interim management, the club is poised to embark on a journey of rejuvenation and growth.

The newly appointed interim management team is composed of highly experienced and dedicated professionals who are expected to bring to bear their wealth of experience in various aspects of football management.

Those appointed into the interim management committee include Aminu Dalhatu Umar, who is the head of the committee and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu.

Other members of the committee include Alhassan Ishak Mohammed; Dauda Mohammed Chiroma, General Manager of Albarka FM and Sa’adu Chadi, who will serve as Secretary.

Governor Mohammed charged the new management team to redeem the battered football image of Wikki Tourists FC which was led into relegation by the sacked management committee led by Mr. Balarabe Douglas.

The appointment of the Interim Management Committee was conveyed in a press statement by the Information officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Bashir Shehu.

The statement further stated; “The Bauchi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is pleased to announce

that His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has given his official approval to the list of individuals comprising the interim management team for the esteemed Wikki Tourist Football Club.

“This move underscores the government’s commitment to revitalize and strengthen the operations of the state’s cherished football institution”.

The statement further stated that the state government believes that the collective skills of the new management are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the club’s future endeavours, from player development to administrative efficiency.

It also stated; “His Excellency is eager to witness the strides that the interim management will take towards enhancing the club’s performance, nurturing young talent, and promoting a spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement”.

Wikki Tourists FC was relegated to the second tier of professional football in Nigeria at the end of the abridge football season last year due to what many football enthusiasts associated with lack of competence by the immediate past Management Committee.
