Bayelsa, Kogi Governorship Polls: Police Will Be Neutral, Professional In Conduct – IGP Adamu

BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has assured that officers and men of the Nigeria police that would be deployed for the conduct of the scheduled November 16, 2019 governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi State would be neutral and professional before, during and after the elections.

IGP Adamu, who gave the assurance at an event held in his honour by the Lafia Progressive Forum in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, said that the police would draw from its experiences in the 2019 general elections to ensure free, fear and credible elections in the two states.

Adamu also assured that police force under his command will give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all the necessary support to ensure that a level playing field is provided for all political parties.

The Police boss equally said that police would continue to do everything possible to combat criminality in all parts of the country.
Commenting on the honour bestowed on him by the people of his home town, Lafia, Adamu expressed profound gratitude for the honour with a promise not to disappoint them.

According to him; “There is nothing good than for one to be celebrated by his people at home. I will continue to be a good ambassador of my community by discharging my duties with sincerity and the fear of God.”

In his remarks at the occasion, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, said the state was proud of IGP Adamu and his achievements since his assumption of office.

Sule commended him for his efforts at instilling professionalism in the force and promoting the welfare of personnel and expressed gratitude to him for efforts to establish a Mobile Police Training School, Police College and Police Public Relations (PPRO) Training School in Nasarawa State, adding that the institutions would go a long way in curtailing criminality in the state.

Earlier, Chairman of the forum, Mallam Hudu Musa, said that the reception was in respect of the contributions of IGP Adamu, who is from Lafia, in internal security of the country.
