Baze University Appoints Prof Abiodun Adeniyi As Vice-Chancellor

Baze University, Abuja on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 announced the appointment of Professor Abiodun Adeniyi as its new Vice-Chancellor.

Also appointed was Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi as Registrar of the institution.

The appointments which were approved by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Founder, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, take effect from May 6, 2026.

The university said the appointment of the two academics into the top positions in the institution followed what it described as a rigorous and competitive selection process.

Prof. Adeniyi, a scholar of Communication and Media Epistemology, moves into the role after serving as the Registrar of the University and he is succeeded by Alhaji Lawi, who was previously Director of Human Resources.

Both appointees have spent over a decade at Baze University, with records of institutional loyalty, professionalism, and administrative commitment.

The Board expressed confidence in leadership transition, saying it is confident the new leadership team will advance the university’s mission, strengthen its academic standing, and enhance administrative excellence.

The appointments, the board further said, reflect Baze University’s commitment to continuity, merit-based leadership, and sustained institutional growth.

The university community has congratulated both officials and called on staff and stakeholders to support them as they assume their new roles.
