The Accountant General of the Federation, Dr (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein has challenged Federal Pay Officers (FPOs) to be prudent while embracing ongoing financial reform initiatives in discharging their statutory responsibilities.

Importantly too, she said states must introduce measures to effectively check financial leakages while improving their revenue generation and collection for economic growth at the grassroots level.

Consequently, she has directed the FPOs to ensure Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the States comply with the provisions of the public financial management reforms initiated by the Federal Government.

Speaking at the Federal Pay Office, Kano in continuation of her nationwide tour of Federal Pay Offices, the AGF said the deployment of manual processes in handling financial activities will be a thing of the past soon.

Mrs Madein said applying modern technology in accounting profession has become vital and a key driver of financial processes, adding that the AGF Office is set to establish an enterprise concept management where all activities will be digitalized and further extended to the FPOs.

A statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations in the OAGF, further said the AGF is also encouraging the FPOs to embrace the Performance Management System (PMS) which will replace the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER).

She explained that the PMS involves all staff and will be used in the measurement of management performance, urging all FPOs to be computer-literate and digitally ready going forward.
