BY RAPHAEL EDE, ENUGU – South-east Governors’ Forum rose from a crucial meeting with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, urging his group not to make its demands absolute.

Chairman of the forum, who is also the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, who read the communique of the meeting urged IPOB to allow the governors to engage their entire leadership to further meetings and dialogue.

He said: “The South East Governors today, the 30th day of August, 2017 met with the leader of IPOB Prince Nnamdi Kanu together with Prof. Ben Nwabueze SAN, and Evangelist Elliot Uko. The meeting deliberated on the demands of IPOB and noted their concerns accordingly.

“However, the meeting agreed that those demands by IPOB should not be absolute rather the South-east Governors shall immediately engage the leader of IPOB, Prince Nnamdi Kanu and the entire leadership of IPOB to further meetings and dialogue with a view to quickening the resolutions of all issues amicably.”

The meeting was attended by Ebonyi and Enugu Governors while Anambra State Governor was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke.

Abia and Imo State governors were not in attendance, as the forum chairman announced that they traveled out of the country.
